Quando il gioco si fa duro, i duri escono e iniziano a giocare. Ieri Theo Hernandez ha giocato fuori ruolo, da centrale, in mezzo alla difesa in coppia con Fikayo Tomori. Senza Thiaw, Kjaer, Pellegrino e Kalulu infortunato il Milan contro il Frosinone ha dovuto arrangiarsi. A Theo non glielo ha imposto nessuno… Nell’emergenza è stato il francese a mettersi al servizio di Stefano Pioli. Lo ha raccontato il tecnico a margine della partita: «Io e Theo abbiamo parlato in settimana e lui mi ha detto che poteva giocare in quel ruolo.
Ha fatto benissimo in fase difensiva e anche in fase di impostazione. Ha giocato una grande partita, ha dimostrato una grande voglia di aiutare la squadra in un momento delicato». Theo non è il primo giocatore della storia del calcio ad adattarsi fuori ruolo, in una posizione del campo sulla carta non sua e a raccogliere apprezzamenti. A San Siro, nella stagione 2010/2011, fase a gironi di UEFA Champions League, il gallese Gareth Bale – allora 21enne – giocò Inter-Tottenham da ala sinistra firmando addirittura tre gol fotocopia in un tempo.

Restando in Serie A invece, un altro esempio di giocatore duttile e affidabile è stato Dries Mertens: a Napoli sbarcò nel ruolo di esterno alto per poi spostarsi da punta centrale. Il bottino del belga in azzurro diede ragione a Maurizio Sarri, il tecnico che firmò la sua trasformazione: 28 gol e 9 assist nella stagione 2016/17, chiusa da vicecapocannoniere del campionato davanti a Edin Dzeko.
