Il Milan vince e sale al terzo posto della classifica del gruppo F, a -1 proprio dal PSG e a -2 dalla vetta, occupata dal Borussia Dortmund che nell’altro match del girone ha battuto il Newcastle. I rossoneri riescono ad ottenere i loro primi tre punti nella competizione e ora possono guardare con più fiducia alle prossime sfide contro i Magpies e i tedeschi per il passaggio del turno.
Nel primo tempo parte molto forte il Milan, che crea un’occasione importante con Loftus-Cheek, ma non riesce a centrare la porta difesa da Donnarumma. A sbloccarla è il PSG dopo 9′, con un altro giocatore che torna a San Siro, anche se vestiva la maglia dei cugini nerazzurri: Milan Skriniar. Il Diavolo non molla e grazie a una delle tante accelerazioni di Rafael Leao, riesce a presentarsi di nuovo dalle parti di Donnarumma. Il tiro di Giroud è respinto dal portiere, ma il primo a recuperare il possesso è ancora il portoghese del Milan, che in rovesciata ribadisce in rete. I ritmi restano altissimi, con grandi occasioni da tutte e due la parti: il PSG sfiora il nuovo vantaggio con Mbappé e il Milan con Musah.
Il secondo tempo viaggia sugli stessi livelli della prima frazione di gioco, con Luis Enrique che alza il baricentro della squadra francese. Ma a inizio ripresa è il Milan a trovare il gol che li porta in vantaggio: la difesa del PSG è distratta e richiede un fallo su Hakimi, Theo Hernandez riceve largo e fa partire un gran cross, sul quale si fionda Giroud. Il francese stacca sopra Skriniar e supera Donnarumma. La partita resta poi equilibrata, con l’ex portiere rossonero che è costretto in un paio di occasioni a sporcare i guantoni, con il Milan che non riesce a trovare il modo di chiudere la gara e lasciando alcuni spazi agli avversari. Il PSG spaventa ancora i rossoneri soprattutto con Lee che colpisce un palo, ma la vittoria rossonera è comunque meritata. Nel finale c’è da segnalare l’infortunio per Pulisic, costretto ad uscire per sospetto problema al flessore.
